The Community Air Monitor or CAM is a fixed-base monitoring station that combines the Personal Air Monitor (PAM) with our Model 106-L Ozone Monitor in a NEMA weatherproof case. The PAM measures CO, CO2, PM1, PM2.5, temperature (T), pressure (P) and relative humidity (RH) using robust and reliable sensors. The ozone monitor is a highly accurate US EPA Federal Equivalent Method. The PAM can be removed easily from the CAM for mobile monitoring and participation in our AQTreks educational research project. The CAM allows a neighborhood to monitor air quality at a fixed location over time, while also allowing detailed mobile mapping to identify point sources of air pollutants. We recommend that communities install at least one CAM and provide its citizens with multiple PAMS for thorough exploration of the air quality both outdoors and indoors. Data are continuously uploaded to the web via the PAM's cellular internet connection, and the data are available to the entire community on the dashboard of the CommunityAQ website.
